Have you ever abseiled down a waterfall into a dark cavern with water pouring over you the whole time? Or jumped 20 feet down into a deep pool only 6 feet square with vertical rock walls on either side? This is all part of the exhilarating and sometimes scary experience that is canyoning. |
Canyoning is basically climbing a mountain then navigating down a stream bed in a ravine. With Senor Stag, you can experience this extreme sport only 3 hours from Barcelona, and we organise all transport needs and the activity for you. |
Once you arrive at the activity centre with your Senor Stag guide, you will be kitted out with full waterproof and safety equipment - wetsuit salopettes and jacket, neoprene socks, abseiling harness and safety helmet. After putting on your shoes or trainers, your transport will take you 20 minutes down the valley to the start of the canyon. After a safety briefing, you jump in and across the river, then climb for 30 minutes up the mountain to the top of the ravine. This is when the fun starts ! |
You will start splashing your way down the ravine, but as is the "stepped" nature of streams, this won't last long. Some drops you will have to jump, and others slide down into the water pool below. But there are sections when only abseiling down will do, especially down the 40 foot waterfall which drops you into the "Devil's Cavern". After 2 hours of sliding, jumping and abseiling, you will arrive back at the river and just float down to the original starting point. |

Because the location is a 4 hour drive from Barcelona, it's worth making the most of your stay by combining this activity with White Water Rafting. Please look at our White Water Rafting package page for various options to make the most of your time in the beautiful Spanish Pyrenees. |
